Pete Smith

Pete is currently a firefighter with the Tewksbury Fire Department with eight years’ experience in the fire service. He is a certified Public Fire and Life Safety Instructor and Hazardous Materials Technician. He has attended over one hundred hours of active threat classroom and practical training, including the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training Active Threat Integrated Response Course and Sig Sauer Academy’s Multi-Assault, Counter Terrorism Action Capabilities Course. As a firefighter, Pete is active with the Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E) program spending many hours in the schools and at community events educating residents about fire and life safety.    

Pete is also a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Sergeant Major, former Special Forces Medic and U.S. Army Ranger, with eight deployments for combat and overseas contingency operations. Before becoming a firefighter, he previously served with the Massachusetts Department of Correction as a Correction Officer for 10 years.    

Pete earned a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis from Norwich University in 2022.
